Stockholm Syndrome

Some things haven't changed you know. The garden is still full of the same winding paths and the air, perfumed with exotic flowers. I still stay up way past midnight and read until I pass out. Nothing in particular, just words to keep my mind occupied. Only that constant state of exhaustion blanketed by multiple cups of coffee and tea keeps me upright. Keeps time moving forwards. Keeps the wolves away.

I took down the clock and the calendar last night. Cowardly, but somehow, not knowing how many days have passed since you left is a lot more comforting than making hash marks on the underside of the desk. I've already lost track of the hours in the hazy summer heat. Suffocating. Even the cicadas have forgotten how to sing.

  1. One of the main reasons I read so much, to escape.

Were some of these taken with a film camera? I love the one with the fish.

    1. No actually! But they were taken in super low light that they became really grainy. Also, my camera is gradually dying so pictures get weird. It's kind of frustrating, but I've been able to experiment more I think. The fish picture is actually a composition of three different pictures!

    1. I'm glad you like it! I love the way the evening summer light filters through the leaves and I was trying to capture that warm feeling.

    1. I agree - need a bit of moving and a bit of staying still. Though I must admit...I'm infected with the travel bug right now, feeling restless.
